VergeNYC 2017: Invisibility A Transdisciplinary Design Conference at Parsons School of Design

Starr Foundation Hall, Room UL102, University Center
General Public

INVISIBILITY poses a unique set of challenges for designers and those who aim for social change. For many humans, it creates conditions of uncertainty and inequality, leading to fear and inaction. In times of a global political climate that raises many questions and uncertainty about the future, foresight is more important than ever. In the coming decade, what strategies are needed to make visible the prevalent forces that shape our lives and power dynamics? How can we leverage these forces to bridge diverse world views to co-create a more inclusive future? What aspects are better left invisible? How might we continue to reveal intangible aspects of society and human behaviors? How can we restore visibility to the unseen, unheard communities disenfranchised/displaced by power and politics?

Join us for the this annual Student led Transdisciplinary Design conference at Parsons!

These and other questions will guide us through a variety of events, including talks, panels and workshops facilitated by experts in the field, curated conversations led by students, and evening events to encourage open communication.

Special Guests: Ezio Manzini, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Angela Luna
