Girls have long been the subject of the photographer’s lens, but they have far less often been behind it. So when The New York Times set out to document the lives of 18-year-old girls across six continents, one thing was clear: Girls needed to be in front of and behind the camera.

The result is “This Is 18” — a new photography book from The Times and Abrams that profiles two dozen young women around the world.

Join us to celebrate the book’s release with a photo exhibition and party on November 12, hosted by the project’s editors.

Presented in collaboration with the New York Times, the School of Art, Media, and Technology at the Parsons School of Design, and the School of Media Studies at the Schools of Public Engagement
