Presented as part of the Jazz and Gender series of conversations at The New School College of Performing Arts. 

Rebecca Street, TV, film, and stage actress is a survivor of sexual trauma and the author of the book, You Can Help: A Guide for Family and Friends of Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault.  She also created the free 6-week online program for survivors entitled, You Are Not Alone  (www.youcanhelpsurvivors.com).

In her presentation, Rebecca will discuss the epidemic of sexual trauma, share her own personal story of surviving childhood abuse, and focus on the artistic transformation of suffering.  

Ms. Street has addressed lay people, professionals, and students at a variety of venues on the ramifications of sexual trauma and methods for facilitating recovery, including the NY State Office of Mental Health, Fordham University Graduate School, the Juilliard School of Music, Drama & Dance, the University of California Santa Barbara, and Take Back The Night.
