Graduation Recital at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Studies - Rosdeli Marte, voice

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall
General Public

Vocalist Rosdeli Angela Marte will perform her senior recital in commemoration of graduating this Spring with degrees in Jazz Vocal Performance and Psychology. She will perform original music, as well as arrangements of some favorite songs, with luscious vocal lines and colorful arrangements. Her songs like “Person in the Mirror” and “Float” will show off her songwriting style, ranging from ambient and airy to upbeat and swinging, tinged with a bit of soul, pop, and avant-garde.

Born and based in New York City, Rosdeli has been singing for most of her life. Starting out on public school stages and choirs, she began formal training at 11-years-old. She has a diverse background in classical, jazz, and musical theatre voice technique. Rosdeli’s story-telling ability comes from personal experiences off loss and love. Through resilience, she journeys ahead to share her experiences of hardships and perseverance through song and improvisation.

Rosdeli currently attends The New School as a double major in Psychology and Jazz Vocal Performance and is a recipient of the Tony Bennett Scholarship. She performs with Sun Ra’s former trumpet player, Ahmed Abdullah. She is working on original arrangements for her band, Rosdeli & the Martians as they take hiatus from their NYC tour. She continues to captivate hearts through story-telling and open ears through experimental improvisation. She has shared stages with artists such as Tony Bennett, Lalah Hathaway, and Wynton Marsalis & the JALC Orchestra. Rosdeli has performed Carnegie Hall, the Apollo, Lincoln Center, Rockwood Music Hall, and many others.
