Graduation Recital at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Studies - Carl Wilhelmsen, guitar

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall
General Public

Carl O. Wilhelmsen (cow) is a guitarist and composer originally from Norway, will present a set of originals and reworked pieces as part of his senior recital.

Growing up in between Norway and the United Kingdom sparked a fascination for British rock and Scandinavian metal. Being concerned with the origin of these styles led him to explore blues from both America and Britain. It wasn’t long before he discovered jazz through Wes Montgomery, Sonny Rollins and Dizzy Gillespie. Wanting to learn more about improvisation he sought out everything he could in England before he set his sights on New York. Since then he's had the fortune of studying under and learning from Reggie Workman, Peter Bernstein, Kirk Nurock, Paul Bollenback and Nir Felder . Today his musical influences span just about everything from classical and world music to contemporary hip hop, rock and jazz.

Presented by the School of Jazz and Contemporary Studies at the College of Performing Arts
