School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall
General Public

Please join songwriter and vocalist Alyssa McDoom as she presents her senior recital, marking the end of her studies at The New School.

Alyssa, currently based out of New York City, will be receiving a BFA in vocal performance from The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Her recital will feature special arrangements of her original music, as well as a couple of songs special to her time in the program. Alyssa who will be singing and playing guitar, will be accompanied by Evan Wright on guitar, Kate Davis on bass and vocals, Sidney Bechet on organ, Clifford Cameron on piano, Justin Fossella on percussion and Harrison Keithline on drums.

Alyssa is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Alyssa creates music informed from her greatest influences folk music, 60’s soul and reggae. Looking up to artists like Joan Baez, The Supremes, The Delfonics, and Alton Ellis, Alyssa mixes her folky voice and compositions with arrangements and sounds reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. Heavily inspired by producers arrangers of that period like Burt Bacharach and the Holland- Dozier Holland, she produces her music with a love for analog and warm textured arrangements that normally include her playing an old nylon guitar and organ.
