Hirshon Artist-in-Residence Toni Dove will work closely with graduate students from the School of Media Studies to experiment with her project "Spectropia,” a cinema-scale live-mix movie performance event form that is part video game, part feature film and part VJ mashing.

Since the early 1990s, Toni Dove has produced unique and highly imaginative embodied hybrids of film, installation art and experimental theater. Toni Dove’s work has been exhibited or performed at ZKM, the Museum of Moving Image, the ZERO1 Biennial, Montreal International Festival of New Cinema and New Media, the Wexner Center for the Arts, REDCAT, The Kitchen, and many other venues and festivals. She has also received numerous grants and awards from organizations such as The Rockefeller Foundation, Greenwall Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, LEF Foundation, mediaThe Foundation, Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts from MIT, and Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology. Dove currently serves as the 2014-2015 Dorothy H. Hirshon artist-in-residence at the School of Media Studies at The New School.
