Sonic Intimacy + Creaturely Love - Book Party for Two New Titles by Dominic Pettman

Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Faculty and Staff Café 7th floor, University Center, 63 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10003

Come celebrate the publication of professor Dominic Pettman's latest books, Sonic Intimacy: Voice, Species, Technics (Stanford UP) and Creaturely Love: How Desire Makes Us More and Less Than Human (Minesota UP).

Sonic Intimacy asks us who—or what—deserves to have a voice, beyond the human.

Creaturely Love argues that in our utilization of the animal in our amorous expression, we acknowledge that what we adore in our beloveds is not (only) their humanity, but their creatureliness.

This event will also feature two short films on these topics by Merritt Symes.

Wine and light refreshments will be served.

Dominic Pettman is Professor of Culture and Media at Eugene Lang College and The New School for Social Research (NSSR)
