Sam Reeves, Guitar | Spring'18 Ensemble & Recital Series | School of Jazz

Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

Sam Reeves is an imminent jazz guitarist based in New York City. Originally from Maine, Sam started playing music by playing in various rock, hardcore, and punk bands in high school. He fell in love with jazz when first going to college. Upon deciding to pursue his passion for jazz, he transferred to the New School's School of Jazz and Contemporary music. Sam has toured the East Coast with the lovable jazz fusion band “Din”, and has two albums of his own out at the moment. The first, titled “Loyal” stems from his hardcore project named Norumbega. This album was recorded and released in late 2016. The second is from his NYC based indie band titled Suture. This band features elements of contemporary jazz, indie rock along with dark harmonies of punk music. The eclectic album titled “Works” was released in early 2018. When Sam isn’t playing jazz gigs with his regularly performing trio, or working on new music, he is finishing up his degree at The New School.

Presented by the School of Jazz.
