Betaworks Studios

General Public

This event welcomes presentations by a new breed of fashion brands including Abrima Erwiah, founder of Studio 189, Ammar Belal, founder of ONE432 and Rob Smith, Founder of The Phluid Project, who are challenging and redefining luxury by making the industry more relevant.

This happens through brand activism, social enterprise and sustainability, recreating material, production and sourcing systems, while challenging boundaries and discourse on race, gender and social justice.

Event Moderator Gabriel Chavez. Gabriel is a 21-year-old BA/MA student at The New School studying Journalism + Design, Literary Studies, and Creative Publishing & Critical Journalism.

Brought to you by Parsons Redefining Luxury Initiative, School of Design Strategies, School of Fashion & Cross School Fund 2019/2020.

Organized by Emily Huggard (Assistant Professor of Fashion Communication, Parsons School of Fashion), Jessica Corr (Assistant Professor of Design, School of Design Strategies), & Wendy W Fok (Assistant Professor of Integrated Design, School of Design Strategies).

Co-hosted by Parsons School of Design, and Betaworks Studios
