Paul Motian Tribute: Motian in Motion - A Charlie Parker Jazz Festival Event

Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

School of Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance Space, 55 West 13th Street, 5th floor

Filmmaker Michael Patrick Kelly followed the late Paul Motian - American jazz drummer, percussionist and composer - on and off for over 10 years with unprecedented access to his world. In this special Charlie Parker Jazz Festival event, Kelly presents excerpts from the resulting soon-to-be-released documentary Motian in Motion (an Aquapio films release), and joins a Q&A moderated by guitarist and New School faculty member Steve Cardenas. A Motian tribute trio performance featuring Cardenas, Frank Kimbrough and Ben Allison rounds out the evening.

Free, with RSVP at
