Peter Maass is the author of Love Thy Neighbor: A Story of War, an award-winning memoir of the war in Bosnia, and Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil. He has written for the New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine about Edward Snowden, Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2012, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for his next book, which will focus on the problems of surveillance in the post-9/11 era.
