Peter Maresca on Before They Were Greats: The early comics of E. C. Segar, Frank King, and Rube Goldberg
Drawing from his three most recent books, Peter Maresca presents a detailed look at the younger days of these three masters of American cartooning, with the work that led up to Popeye, Gasoline Alley, and Boob McNutt and those Incredible Inventions. Included are dozens of early 20th-century examples by these Icons of the comics, much of which has never been reprinted before.
Peter Maresca is founder and editor at Sunday Press. For nearly forty years he has contributed to scores of books and magazines in the U.S. and Europe. His work at Sunday Press has received three Will Eisner awards and fifteen nominations.
Presented by Parsons School of Design.
