The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music presents student Martina DaSilva (voice), who will be performing her senior recital.

Born and raised in the heart of New York City, Martina DaSilva is a local talent. She began her vocal training at LaGuardia High School (class of '09), went on to study jazz voice at McGill University in Montréal, and eventually joined the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in the fall of 2011. During the past two and a half years in NYC, Martina has studied with Andres Andrade, Peter Eldridge, and Neal Miner. Martina is an active member of NYC's Early Jazz scene, and performs around the city several nights a week both bandleader and as a vocalist.

Martina's recital will feature a diverse range of genres from 1920s/30s- style Traditional Jazz to early 20th century Spanish classical songs.

Martina DaSilva's original arrangements and transcriptions will be performed by:

Michael Davis (trumpet), Dennis Lichtman (clarinet), Josh Holcomb (trombone), Gabe Schnider (guitar), Dalton Ridenhour (piano), Tal Ronen (bass), Margaret Gianquinto (voice), and Tamar Korn (voice).
