Konceptions 500 Concert & Fundraiser | Ravi Coltrane | Jen Shyu's Nine Doors | Tim Berne's Sun of Goldfinger

Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall 66 West 12th Street , New York, NY 10011

The School of Jazz at The New School is proud to present Konceptions Music Series' 500th show! Come celebrate, show your support- and enjoy an incredible night of stellar music.

Since 2005, pianist/composer James Carney and Heidi Bayer's curated music series has attracted the best musicians to intimate venues around Brooklyn. In 2008, Korzo became home to the weekly Konceptions series, and it has flourished in the years since; redefining Tuesday nights in Brooklyn.

Konceptions provides support, encouragement and a community of listeners for an expanding and diverse group of jazz musicians who mostly live in Brooklyn, yet come from all over the world. Connections are made, relationships fostered and new audiences introduced - resulting in a nurturing and vibrant environment where great music is made in an intimate space for appreciative audiences.

One hundred percent of all proceeds are paid directly to the musicians. Through the generosity, excellent curation and weekly public relations efforts of James and Heidi, the series presents an incredible array of talent each Tuesday night.

NINE DOORSJen Shyu: vocals, Taiwanese moon lute, Korean gayageum and soribuk drum, Japanese biwa, piano, dance, sound design, choreography, Timorese gong and Korean gong (gwaenggwari)
