Kinoscope is a screening series sponsored by the School of Media Studies aiming to enhance the awareness and understanding of the film and filmmaking process by screening a wide variety of national and international films. Pawel Wieszczecinski, Kinoscope's programmer and producer, and Media Studies Faculty member Marcus Turner will discuss the film after the presentation.

Media Studies presents a special screening of emerging filmmaker Christopher Jason Bell’s powerful and beautiful The Winds That Scatter (2015) which will be introduced and followed by a discussion with the filmmaker himself. A continuation of new initiative in support of emerging master talents will be introduced at the very beginning of the event in form of screening of the short Stop (2015) by Reinaldo Marcus Green.

About The Winds That Scatter: Ahmad is an immigrant from Syria, holding wishes of starting his own taxi service. When he loses his menial employment at a gas station, he attempts to navigate through the current American economy with optimism and faith. Soon, reality begins to set in as consistent work is scarce. It slowly begins to take a toll on his relationships, faith, and sense of self, with his dream slipping quickly from his grasp.

About Stop (2015): A young man's livelihood is put to the test when he gets profiled and stopped by the police on his way home from practice.

A reception with food and beverages will follow the screening.

Sponsored by the School of Media Studies.
