Into the Stratosphere: Design Education & Industry Engage UN SDG 12

Starr Foundation Hall, Room UL102, University Center
General Public

In partnership with the Consulate General of Denmark, Parsons School of Design is proud to host this ground-breaking symposium that invites dialogue between the business, academic, and policy communities of New York and Denmark. The discussion will highlight the potential of SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, examining current initiatives and trends while also mapping future opportunities and challenges.

Framed by a high-level keynote panel with representatives from United Nation agencies and Danish and American design educators, the program will unfold through three panel conversations: 1) On the Ground, 2) Moving Forward and 3) In the Sky. Each segment brings together perspectives from industry and academia to interrogate the theme of “The Future Design Can Make”, a multi-year collaboration between Parsons and the Danish design community.

Opening remarks by Rachel Schreiber, Executive Dean of Parsons School of Design, with keynote speakers and panelists from UN Global Compact, UN Development Programme, Cooper Hewitt, the Center for the Circular Economy, Design School Kolding, the Danish Design Award, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK), and the Consulate General of Denmark.

We encourage you to attend for the full day but we're also appreciative of your attendance at one or more of the panels that fit your schedule.
