Freedom and The Politics of Sanctuary

Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Bob and Sheila Hoerle Lecture Hall, Room UL105, University Center 63 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10003

Please join us for a screening of the film Libre – recently premiered at Sundance – and a discussion between the filmmaker, Anna Barsan, Alexandra Delano (Global Studies) and Miriam Ticktin (Anthropology) on the current state of migrant detention and the solidarity movements that fight for immigrant rights.

Undocumented immigrants forced to spend months in detention are turning to private companies to secure their release on bond. In exchange, immigrants pay exorbitant monthly fees for a GPS ankle monitor they can't remove.

Director: Anna Barsan
Produced by: Field of Vision

Presented by the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility
