“Diaghilev: the Avant-Garde comes out of the past” - a lecture by Elizabeth Kendall of the New School for Social Research. Kendall discusses Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, Russia’s magical silver age and the kind of avant-garde it produced.

O’Neill discusses Diaghilev’s 1906 exhibition of Russian Art, the shift from Gesamtkunstwerk to expressions of primitivism and formal experimentation, concluding with select pots-war collaborations between Parisian modernists and the Ballets Russes.
