Hans Speier was a sociologist, author, and one of the founding members of the University in Exile of the New School for Social Research.

Daniel Bessner (Assistant Professor, American Foreign Policy, Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington) will discuss how the experience of the Weimar Republic’s collapse and the rise of Nazism informed Hans Speier’s life and work as an American policymaker.
