Live music promoter and event producer Brice Rosenbloom is the Co-Artistic Director of Le Poisson Rouge and founder of the NYC Winter Jazzfest. His company, Boom Collective, presents hundreds of concerts a year in venues all over New York City.
As an active presence in New York's vibrant cultural scene, Rosenbloom curated the intimate MAKOR music series beginning in 1999, nurturing developing artists such as Norah Jones, Lila Downs, Regina Spektor, Matisyahu, Antibalas, Amos Lee, Gogol Bordello, Peaches, Derek Trucks and others. Rosenbloom then collaborated for a year working shoulder-to-shoulder with Wynton Marsalis to establish the launch season of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Rose Hall at the Time Warner Center.
From there Rosenbloom continued overseeing a myriad of bookings with artists including Andrew Bird, Sharon Jones, The Bad Plus, Brazilian Girls, Keren Ann, Kaki King, and Henry Threadgill at the iconic Knitting Factory in 2005. Rosenbloom was then inspired towards the creation of the NYC Winter Jazzfest which recently entertained over 4000 people at the 8th annual festival in January 2012.
Rosenbloom's prolific booking expertise within clubs and concert halls is complemented by artistic curating credentials in the performing arts world, representing varied interests in jazz, world, experimental, rock, electronic, and emerging contemporary music.
The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music presents the Eyes of the Entrepreneurs series which is dedicated to empowering artists to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset in taking responsibility for their art and their career. More than ever before, musicians are their own businesses. Each week we feature notable guest artists, who will discuss the paths they took in developing their vision and life in music, as well concepts like authenticity and integrity, skill development, community building, networking, and more.
