BOW VS PLECTRUM  is a duo of New School Jazz alum Filip Novosel (tambura) and Tihomir Hojsak (double bass), combining two string instruments with different traditions of playing. Double bass, played with bow, and the Croatian traditional instrument, tambura, played with an unusual rectangle-shaped pick (or plectrum) makes a unique and organic blend which translates into a fresh combination on the music scene.

The music that this duo creates combines variety of styles, but have made its foundations on the folk music of the Balkans and Pannonia region with contemporary jazz. Original compositions of both Hojsak and Novosel are filled with folk motifs, groovy odd meters characteristic for their ethnic background, contemporary jazz harmony and virtuoso improvisations, showing the full glow and potential of their instruments.

As a duo, Bow vs Plectrum performed at many venues in their native Croatia and also made a several appearances on a national TV, but as individuals have performed all around the world in various music groups and combinations.
