Mika Tajima was born in 1975 in Los Angeles, California, and now lives and works in New York. Connecting geometric abstraction to the shape of our built environment, Tajima’s work explores possible forms and activities defined by divisive spaces in which objects outline performer action and viewer positions.

Tajima received a MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts in 2003. Solo exhibitions include Seattle Art Museum, X Initiative, The Kitchen, Bass Museum, Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Galeria Quadrado Azul, among others.  Group and collaborative exhibitions include Centre Pompidou, South London Gallery, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Sculpture Center, 2008 Whitney Biennial, Tensta Konsthall, Ballroom Marfa, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Reykjavik Art Museum, Swiss Institute Contemporary Art, Astrup Fearnley Museet, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Walker Art Center, among many others.
