Dave Douglas meets The Westerlies

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Ernst C. Stiefel Concert Hall, Arnold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, New York

Mannes School of Music and the Festival of New Trumpet Music present new music by Dave Douglas for a new collaboration with The Westerlies, a brass quartet comprised of four childhood friends from Seattle, Washington — Riley Mulherkar and Zubin Hensler on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Willem de Koch on trombone, with Rudy Royston joining on drums.

Composer Dave Douglas (Mannes faculty and president and co-founder of the Festival of New Trumpet Music) explores great American themes in this rich panoply of warm brass sounds. The Festival of New Trumpet Music encourages diverse sounds and invites underrepresented communities to perform and compose music involving the trumpet in any genre, style, or format. The Festival aims to promote opportunity, encourage diversity, and enable community for and among trumpet players and those with whom they work.

The 2016 Festival will be September 19 to 25. Stay tuned for more information.
