"The Nocturnals" Lecture Series
Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm
The Bark Room (Orientation Room), Sheila C. Johnson Design Center 2 West 13th Street, Room M101, New York, NY 10011
Organized by Niki Kriese at the Parsons’ School of Art and Design History and Theory, this lecture series features Parsons staff-members who are creative practitioners in their ‘off-hours.
Seven artists will present and discuss their work, which includes visual art, writing, sound, and choreography. While the breadth is rich, these artists share an obsession with the invisible, and a sense of longing for the unattainable. Yet the work does not feel sorry for itself. It is sharp, humorous, self-effacing, and self-aware, while willing to relinquish control long enough for something magical to happen.
Participating artists include:
- Paul Nicholson – February 20
- Jill Corson – February 27
- Rebecca Nison – March 6
- Niki Kriese – March 13
- Carolina Wheat – March 20
- Heechan Kim – April 3
- Amanda Keller – April 10
With generous assistance from the Parsons Staff Development Fund
