Please join us for this Doc Talk with wing-filmmaker and Doc Studies alum Matt Reynolds whose film, The Great Chicken Wing Hunt has been celebrated not only by The New Yorker but by Eater Magazine, Immaculate Infatuation and Bon Appetit.
As described in The New Yorker, Matt Reynolds, a graduate of The New School’s Doc Studies certificate program, grew up in an area near Buffalo, New York known as “the Wing Belt”. This fortuitous accident of birth led him several years ago to embark on a quest with camera crew and “six iron-tongued gluttons” to discover the world’s best Buffalo wing. The result – after 72 buffalo wing meals in 16 days – is Matt’s feature documentary, now on Hulu, The Great Chicken Wing Hunt, released in time for this year’s Super Bowl. According to The New Yorker, the Super Bowl is “the wing world’s Christmas.”
A former Reuters correspondent, reporting from Prague and eastern Europe, Matt now lives in New York where he is an editor for the History Channel, ESPN and PBS. His recent credits include the History Channel’s Zombies: A Living History, which he co-edited, and his current title as National Buffalo Sauce Champion.
