Teaching Information Literacy: A Workshop for Faculty
Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Alvin Johnson/J.M. Kaplan Hall , room 801 66 West 12th Street , New York, NY
Information Literacy is being actively discussed in educational circles as important for students across majors and disciplines. In order to develop this literacy in our students, we need to better understand it ourselves, and the ways in which information literacy has an authentic place in the curriculum.
Come to this workshop to better understand what information literacy means and how to incorporate the teaching of this skill into course design and assignments. We'll launch into some exercises that will help your students become more thorough searchers and help them think critically about information.
The New School Librarians Kira Appel, director, reference and instruction and Paul Abruzzo, instructional services will lead the workshops.
Please bring your laptop or tablet if possible.
