Talking Race: Left and Right - a New School Dialogue

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Wollman Hall, Eugene Lang College 65 West 11th Street Room B500, New York, NY 10003

Join bell hooks, Stephanie Browner, Dean of Eugene Lang College, and others in conversation about race at Lang and The New School. This will be an intimate conversation for staff, students, faculty, and alumni of the college.

bell hooks (née Gloria Watkins) is among the leading public intellectuals of her generation. Her writings cover a broad range of topics including gender, race, teaching, and contemporary culture. According to Dr. hooks, these topics must be understood as interconnected and linked in the production of systems of oppression and class domination.

This week-long residency is an opportunity for The New School Community to directly engage Dr. hooks and her commitment to education as a practice of freedom.
