Science+Art+Design Workshop-GMO: Creating Hybrids

Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

University Center, 618 63 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY

Create living, genetically modified organisms by introducing extra-cellular DNA into E. coli. We will discuss the theory, techniques, and ethics of genetic modification and examine how artists use man's manipulation of nature to create hybrid organisms and provocative artworks that urge us to consider practices and policies surrounding GMOs. This workshop will run concurrently with the Imagine Science Film Festival. NOTE: To see results, attendance at both sessions is required.

Sponsored by The Department of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, The Provost Office, The New School's Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, and Imagine Science Films.
