Science+Art+Design Workshop-GMO: Food Testing

University Center, 618 63 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY

Learn how GMOs are designed, view artworks that interrogate the Anthropocene, test food products, and discuss new technologies, such as CRISPR. During this lab, you will test a food product of your choice for DNA markers, which indicate if the food was made from genetically- modified plant materials. Attendees may be asked to bring in a small amount of food product they are interested in testing. Techniques: DNA extraction and purification, PCR, and Gel Electrophoresis.
