Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm
School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011
The School of Jazz presents vocalist Rebecca Zola's Senior Recital.
You can expect to hear a selection of her original music, some of which has been performed at venues all over New York City and New England, as well as some new original pieces and arrangements. Rebecca will perform with the members of her band Zolaband, which include Nick Dunston on bass, Kalia Vandever on trombone, Lee Meadvin on guitar, and Connor Parks on drums. She will also be performing on guitar solo, and will play duo with Theo Walentiny on piano.
Rebecca will be graduating in Spring of 2017 with a BFA in jazz vocal performance, as well as a BA in Arts in Context with a thesis on “gender and jazz.” When she’s not performing, Rebecca teaches private voice lessons, and she is also a writer for the Jazz Gallery’s award-winning blog, jazzspeaks.org. Rebecca has read her own poetry and prose at poetry readings around the city. In addition, she is an academic fellow at Eugene Lang College, where she is currently working as a teaching assistant.
Originally from the super patriotic town of Lexington, Massachusetts, Rebecca swapped out her quiet life in the evergreens for historic Sugarhill in Harlem, where she lives with her cat, Nina.
