Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 8:00 pm

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

On  May 15th, 7:00 p.m., The School of Jazz presents trumpeter Paul Tafoya's Senior Recital.

The trumpeter has appeared on stage and in the studio with jazz greats like Randy Weston, Christian McBride, EJ Strickland, and Lew Soloff. Tafoya is a high-caliber trumpeter previously named Marine Musician of The Year in the MARFORPAC band stationed in Hawaii.

Tafoya will play orginal music composed during his tutelage at the New School in commemoration of his completed study. During his New School years, Tafoya formed the group HumanHood, inspired by the notion of human life as a prerequisite stage in reaching higher levels of consciousness, to perform his original compositions inspired by the jazz tradition.

Paul regularly performs in New York City in places like Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Zinc Bar, Minton’s, Swing 46, Shapeshifter Lab, DROM, Rockwood Music Hall, City Winery, and Lincoln Center. Paul has shared the stage with greats Jon Batiste, EJ Strickland, Clarence Banks, Billy Harper, Jim Foy, Rich Perry, Freddie Hendrix, Matt Wilson, Doug Weidman, Martin Wind, Frank Lacy, Claudio Roditi, Alex Blake, Dave Trigg, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Terrell Stafford.

Sponsored by The New School's School of Jazz.
