Open House New York: Tour of the University Center

Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 am

The New School Welcome Center, Fanton Hall 72 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10011

The New School presents a tour of the University Center led by
architects at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and The New School's Office
of Design, Construction and Facilities Management.

Described as “a celebration of the cosmopolitan city” by the New York Times, the University Center is one of Manhattan’s most ambitious and innovative new buildings. Its striking, glazed “communicating stairs,” and reflective, angled brass surfaces speak to The New School’s core values of open exchange, civic engagement and unorthodox thought.

When it officially opens in January 2014, the University Center will add
375,000 square feet of academic and student space, housing smart
classrooms, design studios, laboratories, a student dormitory, and
800-seat auditorium within its 16 stories.

The event is free, but advance registration is required and can be accessed closer to the date of the event from the Open House New York website.
