New Visions Directing Festival: Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl

Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 3:00 pm

The Theater at the School of Drama 151 Bank Street, New York, NY 10014

Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Stephanie C. Cunningham.

Playwright Sarah Ruhl re-imagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine, Eurydice. Dying too young on her wedding day, she must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. All of her efforts to retrieve her humanity are frustrated by a “chorus of stones” and the Lord of the Underworld who has ominous plans for her. On the surface world, Orpheus strives to find the one perfect note that can reunite him with his love so that they may continue life together and never look back…

This production is part of The New School for Drama’s New Visions Directing Festival October 10-19 and October 31-November 9, 2013. For more information and a complete schedule of performances, visit The New School for Drama.
