Higher Education in India: A Special Talk by S.D. Thorat

Sukhadeo Thorat, professor of economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi), discusses emerging issues of diversity and discrimination in India's institutions of higher education. A renowned scholar and contributor to organizations such as UNICEF and the World Bank, he has helped develop government policies and influenced the strategies of international agencies.

He has previously been the Director of the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies and Chairman of the University Grant Commission, and is now currently the Chairman of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. He is one of the most important people with deep insights and influence on higher education in India.

David Van Zandt, President of The New School, will introduce Professor Thorat.
