Please join us for the opening of the second annual Gender Studies art exhibition.  The show will be on view during the month of March 2016 on the 3rd and 4th floor skywalk spaces between 65 W. 11th Street and 66 W. 12th Street. The 3rd floor skywalk exhibit, organized by Hazel Clark, Terri Gordon, and Tracyann Williams, will be devoted to New School student work and the 4th floor to work by the Freedom Gallery for Girls.  Freedom Gallery for Girls projects include The Ragdoll Project, Priya’s Shakti, acrylic painting by Tremain Smith, work by Rachel Bliss, and embroidered portraits by Bonnie MacAllister.

The launch panel will address gender violence, sexual trafficking and art as activism.  Speakers include Ram Devineni and Lina Srivastava, producers of Priya's Shakti; Joanna Fulginiti and Bonnie MacAllister, founders of The Ragdoll Project; Ruchira Gupta, Founder and President of Apne Aap Women Worldwide; and Lauren Manning, Campaign Manager at Girl Rising.  There will also be a performance by spoken word artist Ursula Rucker. Julie Rosen, founder of the Freedom Gallery for Girls, will moderate the event.

A light reception will follow the panel.
