Eldar Djangirov Masterclass

Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

School of Jazz Performance Space, Room I531, Arnhold Hall 55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

Presented by Casio America, Inc. and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music

This masterclass will focus on jazz composition and playing in the trio setting, and will include a performance by Eldar Djangirov, a Q&A session, and student performances with feedback.

Djangirov is an accomplished pianist and composer from Kansas City by way of the former Soviet Union, who has played at jazz festivals and toured extensively across the world. In 2008, Djangirov was nominated for a Grammy for his album, “Re-imagination,” which includes bold, original songs along with jazz classics that the artist recreates with a sophisticated and fresh new take. The young pianist has been described by the New York Times as, “a blend of musical intelligence, organizational savvy, enthusiasm and prowess that was all the more impressive for seeming so casual… an ebullient impressionist.”
