Ian Levy is proud to present a wonderful evening of music at The New School performance space upon his graduation this year. The evening will include original music and arrangements coming from the jazz repertoire and diving into a more virtuosic approach with an unconventional instrumentation and musical surprises that are sure to reach the listener in a profound way.

Spotting the unique sound of New York City up-and-coming saxophonist Ian Levy can be done from a mile away. His gorgeous sound, stage presents, and musical aptitude provides any audience with an enchanting experience. Inspired by a wide range of history’s saxophone phenomena from Colman

Hawkins to Chris Potter, Ian Levy is an auditory encyclopedia of different approaches and styles.

Levy, having grown up in Denver, began playing at the age of 11 and has since gained a following of his own playing some of Denver’s finest venues including Five Points Media Center, Lannies Clocktower Caberet, and Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge with two bands he founded in his early high school years.

Along with his charming stage presence and glowing personality on and off stage, He also works as the manager, producer, and composer for both of his Denver based bands whom he played these venues with.

Ian Levy was named after rock legend Ian Anderson and emulates his charisma, energy, and flute playing as well. Levy was given a flute by his father after his mother passed when he was very young. Levy continues to incorporate the flute sound as a gorgeous texture in his performances.

Levy is also a proficient clarinet player having played it classically through High School. Levy plays the clarinet in both jazz and classical styles of music.

Message from Ian

My time at The New School has been nothing short of an amazing experience and education. As my life reaches a new chapter I will be giving back with the music that inspires me most with some of the musicians I call friends that inspire me most. I can’t wait to present my music to my family, friends, peers, and teachers one last time before my time at The New School officially reaches an end.
