Community Rise Up: Bystander Intervention Training with Hollaback!

Monday, July 17, 2017 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

University Center, UL102 (lower level) 63 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY

Have you or a friend ever been a bystander to harassment? Being an active bystander is a big part of public safety, but it's a collective effort that requires thoughtful strategies. Hollaback! is eager to share bystander intervention training with those invested in community building and culture change. Their Bystander Intervention Training will provide you with reflective strategies to assess your environment and safe points of engagement and will include their 5 Ds of Bystander Interventionâ„ .

Hollaback!, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit, has worked for years on issues of sexual harassment and has long been at the forefront of nonviolent interventions to public harassment from cat calls to assault. In recent years they have included public harassment (including hate crimes) under the umbrella of their offerings as trainers.

Please join us on Monday, July 17, 6:00-8:00 p.m. (arrive early!) for a free training. Register at, and visit to learn more about the training.

Sponsored by The New School's Wellness and Health Promotion, National Organization of Women, and Hollaback!
