Did you know that the average New Yorker tosses 46 pounds of clothing and other textiles in the trash each year? Landfills are overflowing, and our wasteful patterns of consumption carry significant environmental and social impacts. Clothing swaps are a great way to clear out your closet and update your wardrobe while being a little kinder to the environment. By swapping your old garments for other gently loved items, we can help break the cycle of textile waste and learn about alternative ways to consume.
To participate, please bring up to five gently loved items in good condition for swapping between 12:30pm and 1pm. Items must be clean and dry, and can include clothing and paired shoes. You will be able to take as many items as you bring, and all unswapped items will be delivered to GrowNYC’s Textile Recycling program.”
